Pincher Creek Emergency Services (PCES) responded to the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) on Main Street yesterday morning June 20 at approximately 11:30 am to investigate a report of smoke at that business. According to PCES Chief Dave Cox customers and employees were promptly evacuated from the building. The source of the smoke was quickly verified to be an electric motor on the CIBC roof. It malfunctioned, sending a significant amount of smoke through one vent into the building, causing a strong smell. The building aired out quickly and PCES returned to station within approximately half an hour of being called to the scene.
