The Pincher Creek Chamber of Commerce held their 4th annual Golf Tournament on Sunday, June 22. Organizer Sharon Roberts was delighted with how the day was unfolding. "We have 11 teams and 44 golfers," she said.
Although Roberts said there were many gag prizes along the front nine, what a lot of the golfers were really shooting for was a hole-in-one on the eighth green. If anyone got that hole-in-one, they would have won $10,000 toward the purchase of a new vehicle at Castle Ford/Westcastle. "We had one that got within 5 inches," said Caelan Taylor, a Matthew Halton High School Student who is involved with the Chamber. He was one of the volunteers helping to make sure the day ran smoothly.

The back nine was going to be a more serious round of golf, according to Roberts. After the scores were tallied, prizes, auctions, and perhaps some gentle ribbing were the order of the day in the restaurant where a turkey dinner with all the trimmings was to be the order of the day.

"It has been a great day so far," said Roberts who was just finishing her eighth hole of the day. Roberts explained that even though the day was to have a fun time playing golf the ultimate purpose was to raise funds for both the Chamber of Commerce and Junior Achievement school programs. Toward those ends the day netted a profit of $2,550. "This day has excellent people, perfect weather."
