Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development has developed three new videos dealing with the production of allergen and gluten-free products.
“The world-wide market for allergen and gluten-free products is projected to surpass $26 billion by the year 2017,” says Cherril Guennewig, project coordinator, Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development (ARD), Edmonton. “ARD’s food and health unit has developed a series of three animated videos to help food manufacturers assess the opportunities and minimize the risks associated with producing these products.”

A Food Manufacturer's Guide to Allergies and Gluten will help a business decide if manufacturing gluten-or allergy-free food is the right opportunity for them.
Allergen Recalls: What Can You Afford to Lose? explores how allergen-related food recalls happen and what can be done to minimize the risks to both business and customers.
Allergen Testing Options explains why businesses need to test to detect the presence of uncontrolled allergens in their food manufacturing facility and shows which testing options are available and best suited for this purposes.
“These videos are excellent educational tools,” says Guennewig. “The Allergen Testing Options video has even been solicited by McGraw-Hill Ryerson, one of the largest Canadian educational publishers, for their online educational resource titled Nutrition and Healthy Eating.”
