Pincher Creek St. Michael's kindergarten class had an exciting day on Wednesday, May 14. They had a demonstration about agricultural safety in their classroom and then took a field trip to the Pincher Creek Co-op grocery store. On the trip there Teacher Mrs. Hession led them through a scavenger hunt, where they spotted many signs of spring, including grass and ladybugs.

"This about community connections," said  Mrs. Hession. Her 11 students are learning about the four basic food groups, and were food comes from. "Not all of our kids are from farms, some of this is new to them," she explained. Other skills the kids practised during the trip were mathematics by counting the number of times they saw certain objects on the scavenger hunt, speaking, reading, and respecting others while out in public.

At Co-op the kids visited the bakery where they saw the bread slicer in action, the big oven, and a cake being decorated.

The students also got to see the trash compactor and recycling area, and tried some fresh strawberries from the produce department. There was time for a quick visit with Cooper the Co-op mascot before the students returned back to school.
