During Canada's Nation day of Honour, a day Canadians pay tribute to Afghanistan Veterans, on May 9th, 2014, at approximately 7:45 pm, a young male adult entered the Cenotaph Park in Pincher Creek and vandalized the Cenotaph, a stone table, the sidewalk, and a rock with blue spray paint. He then proceeded to the next building over and spray painted a small section of the exterior wall before fleeing on foot to a nearby vehicle, seeking transport out of town. Further examination showed blue paint down the creek trail on signs and bridges.
Thanks to help from nearby concerned citizens, the Pincher Creek RCMP were able to apprehend 21 year old Allen "Junior" Sharp Adze within the hour from a vehicle leaving town. He is currently charged with Mischief over $5000 for damage to the Cenotaph park, and mischief under $5000 for the other damage. His next court appearance is set for May 13, 2014 in Pincher Creek Provincial Court.
