At the regular meeting of the MD of Pincher Creek #9 council today May 13, a controversial proposed rezoning request for a piece of land north of Lundbreck was quickly and unanimously rejected by council upon second reading. At a public hearing held on April 22 council heard from a number of citizens opposed to the rezoning request made by Southwest Concrete of Lundbreck (amending Bylaw 1247-14) which would have rezoned the land in question from Agricultural-A to Multi-lot Heavy Rural-Industrial to allow for a gravel pit on the site.
After council's rejection of the amendment a mood of jubilation was immediately evident among the several members of the public who were in attendance to see what council's decision would be.
