Missing Lethbridge woman located
Lethbridge Regional Police advise the public that Deborah Ollenberger has been located and is OK. Police thank the media and public for their assistance in this matter.
Airdrie RCMP looking for hit and run driver
The Airdrie RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a motorist involved in a Hit and Run collision with a cyclist.
On April 6th, 2014 at approximately 7:15pm, Airdrie RCMP responded to an injury collision involving a cyclist. A teal coloured 4 door car with a male driver was proceeding westbound on Big Springs Drive and struck a cyclist. The vehicle did not stop and continued westbound. Airdrie RCMP and Emergency Medical Services attended and the cyclist was transported to a Calgary area hospital with unspecified injuries.
RCMP Forensic Identification Services is assisting and the investigation is continuing.
The vehicle and driver are described as

A two month joint Investigation involving Cochrane RCMP and I.C.E ( Integrated Child Exploitation ) began after Police were informed of allegations an adult male had inappropriately communicated with a 15 yr old Male youth via the internet. An investigation confirmed inappropriate communication and meetings resulted between the male and youth. The accused Alexander PELUSO GALARRAGA 25 yrs old of Calgary is facing 19 Criminal Code charges which include Sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching, luring a child for a sexual purpose and child pornography. Alexander PELUSO GALARRAGA is scheduled to appear at Cochrane Provincial Court on April 8, 2014.

As part of the Provincial Police Service Agreement (PPSA), the RCMP serves rural communities that do not have their own police services.

The RCMP has 112 detachments across the province, and is currently determining where the new officers are needed most.
RCMP investigate death at O'Chiese First Nations
On April 7, 2014 at approximately 1:15 am Rocky Mountain House RCMP and EMS were called to a disturbance at a residence on the O'Chiese First Nations. Police and EMS attended and located 2 persons with injuries. One of the injured persons died at the scene and the other was transported to Rocky Mountain House Hospital, treated and released. A suspect was taken into custody near the scene a short time later.
Members of Calgary Major Crimes, Rocky Mountain House RCMP, and Red Deer Identification Services are working with the Calgary Medical Examiner to investigate this incident. An autopsy is scheduled for April 8, 2014 in Calgary.
The name of the deceased is not being released at this time pending next of kin notification. If additional information is released it will be sent as an update to this release.
Fatal MVC near Cleardale
On Saturday April 5th at 10:30 a.m., Fairview RCMP responded to a single vehicle fatal collision on Highway 64 and Range Road 104 near Cleardale, Alberta.
The pick up truck operated by a male driver and carrying two male passengers, had been travelling east on Highway 64, when it reportedly experienced a mechanical problem. The truck exited the highway and rolled; ejecting the 18 year old passenger who succumbed to his injuries at the scene. It is believed that the deceased was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision. The 17 year old driver and 15 year old passenger, both wearing their seatbelts, sustained minor injuries and were treated and released at the scene. The Worsley Fire Department and EMS co-responded to the scene.
Alcohol and road conditions are not being considered as contributing factors to the collision. The name of the deceased is not being released.
Fort Macleod residence egged
On March 1, 2014 in Fort Macleod a house on 20th street was egged in the early morning hours. The RCMP are investigating this incident as a mischief and are seeking public assistance in identifying any suspects. Yesterday afternoon, human remains were found in Hythe. It is believed that the body is that of a female who has been missing since December of 2013.
Yesterday afternoon, a residence of Hythe was out walking and observed to be human remains partially covered in the snow in a grassy area. RCMP were immediately called and responded to the area where the remains were reported to be. RCMP were able to immediately confirm that the remains were that of a female who was fully dressed. Police now believe that the remains are that of 64 year old Linda Donnelly who has been missing since December 11, 2013.
RCMP do not believe that the death is suspicious but the remains are being sent to Edmonton where an autopsy will be completed later this week to make a determination as to the cause of death.
Break and Enter to Valleyview Rexall
At approximately 3:40 am Tuesday, March 18th, 2014, a lone male suspect broke into the Valleyview Rexall by breaking the front window. It is believed the male was familiar with the store's layout and may have been involved in similar crimes in the past. The male targeted the prescription medications mainly. The subject is described as approximately 5'7"-5'10", 130-150 lbs, Caucasian, no facial hair, glasses and mid 20's to early 30's in age.
The Valleyview RCMP are looking for any information that will identify the person(s) responsible for this crime.
Red Deer RCMP to host National Victims of Crime Awareness Week open house
April 6 to 12 is National Victims of Crime Awareness Week, and the Red Deer RCMP Victim Services Unit and the Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre are hosting a public open house to commemorate the week. The open house will take place Thursday, April 10 from 9 am to 3 pm at the downtown RCMP detachment at 4602 51 Avenue. Coffee, juice and refreshments will be served, there will be door prize draws, and everyone is welcome.
“National Victims of Crime Awareness Week is an opportunity for people to really take note of the impact crime and tragedy have on our community, and to recognize the importance of assisting those who are victims of crime,” says Cst. Jody Young of Victim Services. “This year’s theme is ‘Taking Action,’ and our goal is to educate people on actions everyone can take to prevent victimization and to support victims and their families.”
The open house will feature information booths from Victim Services, the Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre, Crime Stoppers, Citizens on Patrol, Neighbourhood Watch and AMA. Information will include behaviours and tools anyone can adopt to help prevent criminal activity in their neighbourhoods, and volunteer information for those who want to take a more active role in community safety and prevention.
The open house is funded by the Victims Fund, a grants and contributions program administered by the Department of Justice Canada. Funds are available to provinces, territories and non-governmental organizations for programs and services that give victims of crime a more effective voice in the criminal justice system.

On April 6th, 2014 just after midnight, the RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on the QEII Highway in the south bound lanes near the 67th Street overpass.
Subsequent investigation determined that a south bound vehicle had struck the cable barrier causing damage to no less than twenty (20) cable support posts. The integrity of the cable barrier system prevented the vehicle from crossing into north bound traffic.
The driver, a 29 year old male from Red Deer, was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will be facing two charges in relation to impaired driving. Speed is also being considered as a factor in this collision.
As a result of the collision, south bound travel was restricted to one lane for approximately one hour while emergency crews cleared debris. No other vehicles were involved and the driver did not sustain any injuries.
The identity of the driver cannot be released at this time as an Information has yet to be sworn. He is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
On April 6, 2014 members of the Redcliff RCMP detachment responded to a single vehicle roll over near the intersection of Township Road 142 and Range Road 61 in Cypress County. A small SUV was traveling north on township road 142 approaching Range Road 61 when it went off the road on a curve. The vehicle rolled into the ditch and subsequently caught fire. The lone occupant of the vehicle, an 18 year old female from Cypress County, was pronounced dead at the scene. Drugs, alcohol and road conditions were not believed to be factors in the collision. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The name of the deceased is not being released.
Between the night of March 27, 2014 and the early morning hours of March 28, 2014 an unknown person set fire to a garbage dumpster located on the south side of the Duchess Golf Course. The person(s) responsible for the fire appear to have approached the dumpster on foot. The dumpster sustained significant damage, and was located near fuel tanks.The fire is believed to have been intentionally set. Brooks RCMP are requesting the assistance of the public in bringing forward any information they have or learn. On March 25th, 2014, RCMP responded to an attempted break and enter at the Liquor Store in Myrnam, AB.
Unknown Suspect(s) tried to enter the building through the airconditioner vent but were unsuccessful. This Liquor Store targeted several times over the past few years.

Alberta Hate Crime Awareness Day is an annual community event sponsored by the Alberta Hate Crimes Committee. Hate Crime Awareness Day invites communities to rally together to send the message that hate crimes will not be tolerated. This year’s theme is “Hate imprisons everyone”
Media are invited to attend a presentation ceremony on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at the Southern Alberta Ethnic Association, 207 13 Street North, where the Aboriginal Council of Lethbridge will receive the Alberta Hate Crimes Award for their leadership in promoting equality, inclusivity and addressing hate focused on the Aboriginal community.
This award is presented on behalf of the Alberta Hate Crimes Committee to organizations in Lethbridge, Calgary and Edmonton that have demonstrated leadership and a commitment to work against hate and discrimination.
