Pincher Creek Town and MD councils grant a combined $3000 toward Alberta Citizens on Patrol AGM

Toni Lucas

At the regular meeting of Pincher Creek Town Council held on Monday February 24 council reviewed a request from Pincher Creek Citizens on Patrol (PC COP), a volunteer organization. PC COP has made a successful bid for the Pincher Creek area to be the host site for the annual COP workshop and AGM for 2014. According to a letter from PC COP Director George Dowson this is traditionally a 2 day event held in September and approximately 150 people from all over Alberta are expected attend.

Citizens on Patrol is a volunteer organization that works with the local RCMP to help patrol the MD and Town of Pincher Creek to help control criminal activity and vandalism.

PC COP made a request to the Town of Pincher Creek for council to donate money and souvenir pins toward the COP workshop and AGM. Normally the Town would refer a request of this nature to the Committee of the Whole, however the MD of Pincher Creek has already promised $1500 towards the event. As there was no specific amount of money requested of Town council, council chose to match the funds allotted by the MD council, voting unanimously to grant $1500 and 150 souvenir pins toward the event.
