Pincher Creek's Lego League had some fun on Friday, February 7.  They got into the Olympic spirit by designing lego art based on the Olympic Winter Games.  Pieces included winter animals and landscapes, snowmen holding a Canadian flag, and a hotel and a store for the athletes and spectators.

Some of the projects on display
Many of the pieces the kids made were displayed on a mountain with a gigantic ski hill (formerly known as the slide).

Lego athletes represented hockey, luge, skiing, bobsledding, and skating.  Many of the Lego League kids were already aware of the Winter Olympics, and some knew that the are currently being held in Sochi, Russia.

They asked interesting questions about the Olympics, and many will do the homework by returning to the league next time knowing how medals Canada collected.  Some will go the extra mile and tell how many medals each in the gold, silver, and bronze categories.

According to organizer Diane Bowen-Oczkowski, many of the kids were excited about the new Lego Movie that began on Friday at the Fox Theatre.

The kids had a timed event called clean-up at the end of the session, and were given Canadian flags to help them celebrate the Olympics.

Clean up by putting bins back in the cupboards is part of the day
Lego League is hosted at Parent Link in the Ranchland Mall on Fridays from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
