| A game - Hawks vs Cobras |
Matthew Halton School's Junior A and B Boys Hawks basketball teams hosted their Claresholm WCCHS Cobras counterparts on the evening of January 9. Both Cobras teams went home with definitive victories to their credit.
B game
The Cobras B team appeared to be on average older and more experienced than the Hawks squad, and were clearly dominant on the court, up 34-0 in the second quarter before the Hawks started to get on the board. The Hawks had a much better third quarter but were still outscored by the Cobras. The Cobras again dominated in the final quarter, ultimately winning the game 60-18.
A game
The Cobras A team were a very well disciplined squad, playing an athletic but wild Hawks team. The Cobras dominated all 4 quarters, winning the game 48-12. It wasn't all gloom for Hawks fans - this team shows great promise but they have some work to do in terms of control and leveraging the power of teamwork. The Cobra play a game that is as much intellectual as it is physical, and it appeared they were able to psych out the Hawks repeatedly, keeping the pressure on and forcing the Hawks into desperate plays that increased the odds against them.
