Crestview Highlights January 7, 2014

Greetings from the Residents at Crestview Lodge,

Wow, December was so busy we could barely catch our breath. Now that we have settled down, we have many thanks to give to so many people and businesses in Pincher Creek.

Well first, we have the Grade 1 French Immersion Class from St. Michael’s School and their teacher Miss Domonique to thank. The children were well behaved and sang songs in French very well, we could not help but smile and whole heartedly enjoy their concert.
After the songs were sung we were read the story “ Twas the night before Christmas” by one of the students and the teacher. Then we had milk and cookies with the children as they interviewed us. They were asking us about what it was like when we were children; our Christmas traditions, what kind of toys and presents we would have received and about going to school. Thank you so much for bringing all this to us here at Crestview, we did enjoyed every second of it.

We also want to say thanks to Mrs. Riedel at Canyon School for sending us a booklet made by the grade one class, titled “Everything You Wanted to Know About Christmas… But Were Afraid to Ask”. The answers the children gave were so funny. It brought back memories of when our children were small, and so much laughter!

The Residents went for a 2 hour light tour around Pincher Creek. What a spectacular drive! We would love to pass on our thanks to everyone in Pincher Creek who put up Christmas lights, and a special thank you goes out to Garry Cleland for coming in to the office to make sure we visited his light display. When we arrived Garry turned on his Christmas music and had the lights all twinkling in rhythm; it was a glorious display. The weather was not too cold this year and we made sure to see as many light displays as we could. Huge hugs and thanks to Donny and Barb for taking us on the tour, you rock!

We are not done yet! Thank you to those people who had floats in The Parade of Lights and for making sure to drive by our Lodge. It was wonderful to watch, since we are not always able to get out to support everything in Pincher due to the weather, as we don’t handle the cold like we used to. We appreciate being able to see the beautiful floats and the hard work that went into them.

For our annual Family Christmas/Birthday Party Rainy Day provided the musical entertainment. They are a witty and up beat couple that come to play for us quite often. Fountain Tire and Kost Fire were wonderfully generous; assisting us with items for our door prizes, and for stocking stuffers for the residents. A big thanks to Arnold Nelson who was our Special Guest, giving out jokes and goodies to all who came to celebrate with us.

For New Year’s Eve, the party room was decorated with “glitz and glam”. Huge Diamonds on the tables with some shiny confetti, complete with hats and noise makers. Checkmate entertained us with a wide variety of music, from the western oldies to jazz. Even one of our Home Care workers, Lisa, danced with some of the residents in-between rounds. We wish to thank all the staff for all their hard work that goes into making these parties happen and decorating the Lodge inside and out!

Last but not least, we want to thank some more businesses for helping to stuff stockings for the Residents. Thank you to the Co-op, Sobeys, The Town of Pincher Creek, Leishman Dentistry, Pharmasave and our favourite Avon Lady, Tracy Damberger. You assisted us to provide a wonderful surprise for all the Residents on Christmas morning; “All the stockings were hung by the doors with care!”

We would like to share our many Blessings with all of you, and we wish you a very Blessed New Year!
