The Pincher Creek Curling Club held a "turkey shoot" Sunday, December 15. The prizes ranged from boxes of candy, bottles of alcohol, and of course, turkeys. "We try to hold one close to Christmas," said Club President Debbie Reed,  who said she was very appreciative to all the local businesses that donated toward the event.

Once there were 10 people who wanted to shoot for a prize, the contestants took to the ice and had the chance to throw two rocks to get the closest to the button. "It really is a fun time," said Reed. The first group took to the ice. Everyone was friendly and cheered on the throws of their competitors, and it came down to a shoot out between tied members Justin and Lana Zoratti. The winner of the first prize of the day was Lana Zoratti.

"Nobody sits on the sidelines, I do like the sport for that," said Reed. "It's not an expensive sport to play." Reed explained that if someone wanted to try curling the club will be holding 'Learn to Curl' clinics in the new year. The Combo Spiel will be held in January and the Town and Country Bonspiel will be held in the middle of February.

Anyone who would like to participate is invited to call the Curling Club Monday through Thursday evenings from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at 403-627-4141.
