Seven proved a unlucky number last weekend for the Southwest Rockies.
The Rockies were blanked 7-0 Saturday by Okotoks Oilers and 7-4 Sunday by Cranbrook Hornets.
The Rockies failed to gain any ground in the South Central Alberta Bantam AA Hockey League standings and have now lost eight in a row.
The Rockies are back in action Saturday, December 7 with a road game against Airdrie.
Okotoks 7 Rockies 0
The Rockies died a slow death Saturday evening in the Crowsnest Pass as the Oilers slowly pulled away.
Okotoks scored twice in the first period and added another pair in the second to lead 4-0 after 40 minutes, then closed out the 7-0 win with three more goals in the third period.
Two of the Okotoks goals came on the powerplay.
The shutout was likely one of the easiest Hunter Young will have in his career as the Okotoks goalie faced just 13 shots.
Kyle Roberts and Sean park faced a combined 52 shots in the Rockies goal.
Cranbrook 7 Rockies 3
The Rockies turned in a much stronger effort Sunday against visiting Cranbrook Hornets, although the outcome was the same.
Cranbrook scored three times in the first period and appeared to be in control, but the Rockies rallied to score twice early in the second to cut the lead to 3-2.
Unfortunately for the Rockies, the Hornets stung them for a pair of goals just two minutes apart mid way through the period to restore their three-goal lead.
The Rockies battled gamely and got one with 2 1/2 minutes left in the period to go into the dressing room trailing 5-3.
The Hornets settled the issue with two goals to open the third period, and the Rockies got one with 52 seconds left to make the final 7-4.
Michael McTighe scored twice for the Rockies and Chase Snider and Jordan McAulay had singles.
Turner Sharp picked up three assists on Rockies goals, Cameron Gallant had two helpers and Jesson Luco and Sawyer McAulay each had one.
The Rockies were outshot 38-33, with Park and Roberts again sharing the goaltending duties.
