At approximately 8:30 am on Tuesday December 3 Pincher Creek Emergency Services responded to a fire call approximately 4 miles south of Pincher Creek on Highway 6. The building was a chicken barn measuring approximately 15 x 15 feet.
Due to the heavy snowfall, the responding vehicles could not get to the building. "We set up on the road, and pumped from the highway," said Fire Chief Dave Cox. Crews took hoses through the snow over 100 metres to fight the blaze. The structure was destroyed, with no other damage to surrounding area. No one was hurt, but livestock (chickens) were lost in the incident. Pincher Creek responded with one engine, a tender, and one ambulance.
