Plenty of personal bests for MHHS cross country team this year

Hilary Matheson, Contributor

Personal Best!  This phrase has been the byword for the MHHS cross country team this year.  Although the team consisted of mainly junior high students, it has had great success at both the junior and senior high level.  Nineteen students committed to training for this strenuous and rewarding sport. They competed at Cardston, the Kainai Bullhorn Classic, divisionals at Kipp and zones in Medicine Hat with many personal bests.

Kaitlin Speight won her age group at Cardston while Lucky David won his age group at Kainai.

Both Taite Jesson and Kaitlin Speight won their age groups at divisionals.  Sam Gerrand qualified for provincials at the zone meet.

Our junior high team was the high point team at divisionals.  Although cross country is an individual running sport, our runners have supported and encouraged each other at every event; they have become a very successful team with a great future in running.
