One of the Foothills most recognizable and involved residents, John Barlow of Okotoks, has declared his intention to seek the nomination as the candidate for the Conservative Party of Canada for the vacant riding of Macleod.
Barlow, a resident of the riding for more than 20 years, is currently the Associate Publisher and Editor of the Western Wheel newspaper.
“Being on top of the issues we face in our communities is not only an important part of my job, it’s also a passion,” says Barlow.
No one can doubt his dedication to giving back; John demonstrates his passion and commitment by sitting on the executive of more than nine committees and boards. Barlow also spent much of the summer helping with flood relief in High River.
“When someone has lost everything, you reflect on what you have in your life,” says Barlow, who raised his family in High River. “Getting our hands dirty and working hard to help our friends, neighbours and strangers after the floods was simply the right thing to do”.
He continues, “We live in the best place in the world. It would be an honour to represent the Macleod riding in Ottawa and build on the outstanding work Ted Menzies has done.”
John Barlow lives in Okotoks with his wife Louise and daughters McKenna and Kinley. John and Louise also have a son, Graeden who lives in Calgary.
