Single vehicle motor vehicle collision results in fatality near Onoway

Just before midnight on September 8, Spruce Grove/Stony Plain RCMP were notified of an injured female found wandering in a rural area West of Onoway. Emergency Medical Services attended, as did police.

The female was transported to hospital, and police began searching the area to determine what may have transpired. Approximately 2 kilometers away, they located a truck that had rolled into the ditch several times. A deceased male was found lying in the ditch, having been ejected from the vehicle.

The 23 year old male was identified as the driver of the vehicle. The female passenger remains in hospital, in stable condition.

It appears neither occupant was wearing their seatbelts. Speed and alcohol have not been ruled out as factors in this incident.

The male, originally from Ontario, was residing in Edmonton. His name will not be released.

Police looking to identify suspects in Grande Prairie Bank B&E attempt

The Grande Prairie RCMP are asking for the public's assistance to identify two suspects that are suspected in an attempted break and enter to a financial institution's ATM area that occurred during the early morning hours of September 8, 2013.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on September 8, 2013 it is believed that two males attempted to break into the ATM area of a financial institution located in the area of 97th Street and 84 Avenue.  The suspects obscured their presence in the lobby area by taping a business banner over the front window.  The suspects then caused considerable damage trying to break into a room where they would have gained access to the ATM's.  Eventually, the suspects appeared to have been scared off when they triggered an audible alarm.  The suspects did not make off with any cash.

The police are asking for the public's assistance to identify the two suspects.  The first suspect is a stocky white male.  He was wearing a beige hooded zip up jacket, gloves and a black baseball cap (photograph attached).  The second suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall with a slender build.  The suspect was wearing a black Champion hooded sweat shirt, a black bandana covering his face and olive coloured cargo shorts (photo of suspect 2 attached).

If you have any information about this, or any other crime(s), please call the Grande Prairie Detachment at 780-830-5700.  If you want to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), by internet at www.tipsubmit.com, or by SMS (Check your local Crime Stoppers [www.crimestoppers.ab.ca]  for instructions on how to.)
