Mass registration event a success, another possible for next spring

The Town of Pincher Creek Recreation Office hosted their first mass registration event in Pincher Creek and area on the evening of September 12.  Held in the MCC Pincher Creek Arena the event showcased approximately 28 groups and organizations involved in sports, culture, recreation and wellness in the Pincher Creek area.

"We thought about doing this for a few years," said Recreation Manager Diane Burt-Stuckey.  She was pleased with how the event unfolded.  Based on the success of this event she believes that they will start to hold two of these events every year, in the fall and in the spring.  "We had a great response from the the groups, and people seem to like that they can come to one place and register for a number of different events."

That sentiment was echoed many of the organizations, individuals and families that attended.  "Wow, this was easy," said Chinook Lanes Bowling Manager Denise Sommerfield.  She has been running the Chinook Lanes for years and said that getting everyone signed up in previous years has been challenging.  ""I'm glad we came."

"I think it was important that this was not during the first week of school," said Dr. Gavin Parker, who was signing people up for Judo.  As the father of a young family he said he liked that everything was in one place on one evening.

People went from table to table, seeing what was offered in the community, and they could also see if there were any scheduling conflicts between activities that interested them.

At Music for Young Children Carrie Cooley pointed out the time savings this afforded her, both as a parent and for signing up memberships to her courses.
