| Mayor Ernie Olsen |
Pincher Creek Mayor Ernie Olsen has decided to run for a second term. "There are things I need to finish," said Olsen, mentioning specifically the airport project he spearheaded this term, an ambitious plan to fly Pincher Creek and area residents to and from Fort McMurray and the oilsands related jobs there. "I made up my mind to run again this past long weekend." Olsen served for three years as a councilor prior to his present three year term as Mayor.
The election is scheduled for Monday October 21, 2013 and henceforth Mayor and Council will be elected for four year terms, something Olsen says he is in favour of. "I think it should have happened a long time ago". He believes a council can achieve more during a four year term than it can during the present system of 3 year terms.
Let's hope there are more that decide to run.
ReplyDeleteyou started this airport project approximately 2 years ago. how much longer do you need!! There are much more important issues that need to be dealt with in this town.
ReplyDeleteWatch out all you taxpayers - you might have a new Recreation Complex that we are not sure how it can be paid for.
ReplyDeleteWith the split vote last election and the numbers - don't think he was the most popular! Hopefully there will be another choice.
