Slow Pitch update

Tuesday and Thursday evenings the Recreational Slow Pitch League gets the chance to step up to the plate at Juan Teran Park.  The players are adults and most of the people in the dugout have a casual attitude in this league.  The scores seem to matter little compared to being out to have some fun and exercise while getting the chance to meet with old friends and make some now ones.

"What am I supposed to do with that?"
On Thursday, May 30, six of the 10 teams were on the three diamonds.  The Ballers played against the Balls of Anarchy, the Prodigy faced the Raving Lunatics, and  the Alchoballics mixed it up with the Sons of Pitches.

Those that commented to me generally wanted to remain anonymous, so everyone had the opportunity to comment anonymously as a 'Dugout Dweller'.

The Ballers were playing against the Balls of Anarchy on diamond A.  A couple of players on the Ballers commented.  "I like it, it gets me out."  "It's awesome.  Good people, good times."  Anarchy players said "We're starting to come together," which was answered from the other end of the dugout with 'Yeah, sorta like a car accident comes together."  There was laughter, and someone else said "It's all for fun, it keeps us active."

On diamond B a member of Prodigy explained that they believed 8 people on their team had been playing together for about 8 years.  "It's a lot of fun," said one person between cheering on their team mates.  The Raving Lunatics echoed the sentiment saying that, "This is the third game we've played, I think.  It's all been a lot of fun."

Diamond C held the Alchoballics and the Sons of Pitches.  Alcholballics commented that "So far, so good,' and another quipped "If we could only catch a ball."  Another got into the action saying "We've had four games so far, so there's a lot of teams we haven't even seen yet."  There was a great deal of joking and laughing in the dugout.  "We're not that competitive, we're here to enjoy ourselves."  In the other dugout one of the Son's of Pitches said, "How can you not have fun at something like this?"  while another Dugout Dweller responded, "There's no crying in baseball."

Tell that one goodbye
