For families who remain on evacuation alert, the Red Cross recommends designating a trusted friend or relative who lives far enough away that they will not be affected by the flooding, to act as a liaison between any separated family members. Make sure the designated person knows they are your family contact, and that they should keep other family members informed in the event of an evacuation. Have a list of family contact details (phone and email) for every member of your family, in case you become separated.
All Canadian Red Cross support is provided at no charge to those in need. The best way to support those in need is through financial donations. Anyone wishing to support the ongoing Red Cross response to this disaster may do so by donating to the Canadian Red Cross Alberta Floods appeal.
