Pincher Creek's Walmart hosted a very successful show-and-shine fundraising event for the Children's Miracle Network on Saturday June 1, located at the west end of their parking lot. There were lots of classic cars and motorcycles on display, Papa Joe the Clown entertained the kids with fancy balloon creations, there was face-painting, BBQ, ice cream, cotton candy, and a dj kept the music and announcements coming. Local author Murray Pura also contributed, appearing in the store for book signings and donating the proceeds from sales of his books to the cause.

Gayle MacIntyre was an organizer of the event, and was quite pleased at the outcome. "It was an amazing day. We raised over $2000 today with the show and shine," she said. According to MacIntyre, organizers started planning the event three months ago, and it was their first time doing this. "Lots of calls, emails, driving, talking advertising as best we could to get the word out. Lots of meetings, a great team we had."

MacIntyre said the show-and-shine raised over $2000. Sales of Murray Pura's books also raised another $320. "We have exceeded our goal already but today put us over the top," said MacIntyre.

The success of the day already has organizers talking about making it an annual event, and the show-and-shine folks are all-in, being very pleased with how it went.
