Pincher Creek's Majors Dust Devils won last night, May 21, against the Crowsnest Pass. These teams were very evenly matched and it was close throughout the 5 innings, with Pincher coming out on top by a score of 14-10.
Wes Krampe and Andrew Selk pitched a great game, striking out many throughout.
Catchers play a vital part in this division and Michael Kleinhands-Kaupp and Ritchie LaGrandeur ensured that (most) pitches stayed in front of them and held runners at third base. Big hits helped the Devils solidify their lead, specially Sydney Bruder's towering shot over the left fielder's head to drive in two runs, and then Coltor VanEe nailed another one just pass center fielder.
Great defensive plays helped to hold the Dust Devils' lead, with Easton Fitzpatrick catching a line drive at second, Taite Jesson plucking up ground balls at third that would make Brett Lawrie jealous and then a awesome double play by Easton and Sydney to close out the game.
I can't say enough of all these kids and how far they've come, they're growing as a team and as individuals, always ready to learn and best of all they're having fun while doing it.
