A High Streamflow Advisory has been issued for the following streams: Highwood River, Sheep River, Elbow River and Bow River and its tributaries upstream of Ghost Reservoir. The High Streamflow Advisory for Oldman River and its tributaries upstream of the City of Lethbridge has ended.
Between 50 and 100 mm of precipitation has fallen along the eastern slopes in southwestern Alberta since Wednesday morning. The heaviest precipitation fell as snow at higher elevations in the Upper Oldman and Bow River basins. Over the next 48 hours an additional 30 mm of mixed precipitation is possible in Bow River Basin; 75 mm in the Red Deer and North Saskatchewan River basins. Isolated showers are possible in extreme southern portions of the province over the next 24 hours. Stream levels have risen or are expected to rise rapidly and no major flooding is expected. Minor flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Conditions are being monitored – an update will be issued as the situation changes.
Be cautious of the rising water levels and take appropriate precautionary measures.
