Gym Riot has been happening in St. Michael's since the 90's, and the enthusiasm for this annual event has not diminished.  For the Riot that happened on Friday May 24, 2013 the theme was "Movies".

Once a year St. Michael's School gets a little weird
Grades 6-12 gathered in the  Dale Wentz Memorial Gymnasium to enter the contest and were divided into teams: Blue-Into the Blue, Red-Mushiu, Green-Hulk, and Yellow-Old Yeller.  Every grade was represented in each of these groups.

Fly on the Wall Sarah Kirby
The smallest and lightest of each group became the 'Fly on the Wall'.  Up to two rolls of duct tape were used by each team to stick their 'fly' to the wall.   The student behind the 'silver screen' (of tape) could come down at anytime, but the one to stay up longest scored the highest points.  Sarah Kirby, Sydney Bruder, Romel Obrique, and Josh Conley hung on as long as they could, with Obrique and Conley ultimately holding on the longest, only coming off the wall as the event ended.

The Pit
Another popular contest was The Pit.  Girls lay in a pile in the middle of the gym while the boys tried to separate them, and then vice-versa, with the last team color to be left in the center winning the event.

The contests the contestants faced were:  Movie Trivia, Fly on the Wall, Dress Up, Relay, Song Gargling, The Pit, Gummy Worms, Finding Nemo, Hula Hoop, and Tug of War.  Some of these events defied description, but were obviously a great deal of fun.  The gym was truly a riot of constant action and chaos.

At the end of the event Blue had narrowly edged out Green for the bragging rights of the day.   Most importantly, a happy ending to the dramatic/comedy/action/thriller show of ST. MICHAEL'S GYM RIOT, 2013 coming to a theatre near you...never.  Cut.
