Professionals rely on the Ages and Stages Questionnaire for the best developmental and social-emotional screening for children from one month to 5 ½ years. Highly reliable and valid, the ASQ looks at strengths and trouble spots, educates parents about developmental milestones, and incorporates parents’ expert knowledge about their children. The ASQ is available for free at Public Health, Brighter Futures and the Parent Link Centre.
Also annually local agencies and schools collaborate to offer a family-friendly one day event that welcomes families with 2 to 5 year olds to complete the ASQ using child-friendly activity centres. Professionals will be on hand to assist and answer questions plus there are free resources available for sharing.
