“Alberta Works Week provides all Albertans with an opportunity to pursue their potential and contribute to Alberta’s economy,” said Human Services Minister Dave Hancock. “I encourage Albertans — including employers — to discover the free services and supports available to connect job seekers to employment and discover how to build rewarding careers.”
The Government of Alberta has joined together with stakeholders in close to 30 communities to offer innovative career and employment events. Some of these events include speed interviewing with employers, job search bootcamps, trades discovery day, summer job matching for youth, employer panels and presentations on the benefits of hiring under-represented groups and more.
Throughout the week, articles will showcase Albertans who have overcome barriers and achieved success in connecting to the workforce through government programs and services. These stories highlight Alberta’s diverse workforce and the targeted supports they received as mature workers, youth, persons with disabilities, Aboriginal people and new Canadians.
