Premier Alison Redford congratulates Pope Francis I

Premier Alison Redford issued the following statement today on Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio becoming the new Pope of the Roman Catholic Church and spiritual leader of Alberta’s Catholic community.

“On behalf of the Government of Alberta, I want to extend my congratulations to Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina on being elected the new Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. I know the election of Pope Francis I as the new spiritual leader of the church will be an inspiration and blessing to Alberta’s nearly one million Catholics.”
