The Pincher Creek Figure Skating Club held their annual show on Saturday afternoon, March 23 at the Memorial Community Centre Arena. A large and appreciative crowd was in attendance as they presented "Cutting Edge". Beautiful soloist performances were performed by Alexandra Morgan, Jaydn Tanner, Miranda Van Loon, Tessa Roy, and Taylor Wells.Other production numbers included members of Jr. and Sr. StarSkate and Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced CanSkate.
"I think it went very well," said Club President Renee Van Loon afterwards. "I am a figure skating mom, I have two daughters I put into the Club eight years ago just so they would learn how to skate, and now they're refusing to leave."
"This year has been the most challenging show that we have ever had doe to our coaching problems. This year all of the members persevered and they presented today like we all knew they could. Their coach (Krystle Bordyschuk) is on bed-rest at the end of her pregnancy, but she would be so proud of all of her skaters. I cannot wait to give her a copy of today's show. She will be smiling, ear to ear."
"It was a great season. Unfortunately as of today its over and the new season comes in October."
Figure skater Jessie really enjoyed the experience. " I started just last year, so this is my second show. I'm in the fourth level. We start mid October. We practice our tricks for the show, and then we get it all together in January," she explained. "I do look up to the Senior Star Skate girls, they are really nice. When we learn our things, they really show us how to do it."
The figure skaters work hard all winter towards this show, personal growth, and regional competitions for some. "We have three girls going to the Chinook Open in two weeks, in Lethbridge, and we wish them the best of luck," said Van Loon.
