Finally, most are healthy. They're in the groove, they're making it move. Boom the groove goes wrong and two of their star players are gone. Both are gone for the remainder of a critical game in the Chinook League Post-Season tournament. One, Kory Geddes, well, basketball is just done for him for awhile, so I hear. A big man on the team, solid, good scorer, good team member, so often in the right place at the right time with the right momentum. So, a one-second miscalculation and various other unpredictable factors, and two key players are hurt, one leaves in an ambulance.
That could have been it right there. The Dragons could have folded, just a little. They didn't. Everybody moved forward a step, and the job got done. The full story is coming soon.
Final game, and in the last half the team runs out of steam, just enough. Rainford is back in the game, and in the final three minutes it wasn't over, not by a long shot. And he made that long shot. And then he made another... and everyone stepped up a step, on both sides. Full story on that one soon too.
Long story short, edged out of first place in their own tournament. That close. The vid is up on you-tube, minus the gory bits.
This is one great team. A tip of the hat to Coach Rainford, It's a continuing stream of commands and information. He's in the game as much as his team, It's probably a good thing he wasn't there when two of his members conkered. It's too bad he didn't get to see how well they comported themselves through the experience. Tony Bruder was acting Dragons Coach for that game. It was very "White Shadow".
So, we're going to tell you all about all the stuff that happened, but for some of these guys, this was their last go-round in this special annual tournament.
They didn't win it, but they rocked it.
