Kainai's Jr. B Girls win SWJHAA Championship

Kainai's TMS Eagles Junior B Girls Basketball team capped an undefeated regular season with a first place win at the 2012/2013 South Western Junior High Athletic Association (SWJHAA) tournament.  They won the league.  They won the banner.  This year's Playoffs were hosted by Tatsikiisaapo'p Middle School this past Saturday.

"My 7 player team consists of three grade 8 girls, and four grade 7 girls," said Coach Jackie Davis in an online message. "The names of my players are (gr. 8's): Smokee Good Striker, Carlita Many Chief, Angela Bird, (gr. 7's): Caitlin Davis, Selena Young Pine, Shaylyn Weasel Head, and Hailey Chief Moon."

"I would just like to say that I'm so very proud of these 7 girls for their dedication, commitment, and desire in practices and games. They worked so hard for me and made many sacrifices for the team. I wish the three grade 8 girls all the best in their future basketball endeavors!"




The Hurricanes are coming
The Lethbridge Hurricanes will be headlining a Pond Hockey event at Pincher Creek's Memorial Community Centre Arena on Wednesday, February 20 starting at 6:00 pm.


Upcoming Mini Basketball Tournament
8 young teams will be participating in a Mini basketball tournament at St. Michael's School on Friday, March 8 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm.



Sr. Huskies vs Nanton

Senior Huskies blanked twice by Nanton in playoff series
Pincher Creek's Senior Huskies lost 9-0 away and 5-0 at home against the Nanton Palominos in the first two games of a best of 7 playoff series last weekend.  The next two games of the series are as follows:
  • Friday February 22 in Nanton
  • Saturday February 23 in Pincher Creek
Games start at 8:30 pm.

In the other RHL series, Fort Macleod defeated Lomond 6-3 in one game and then Lomond defeated Fort Macleod 3-2, to tie their best of 7 series at 1 game apiece.

Bow Island defeats Atom 2 Chinooks
The Atom 2 Chinooks lost 12-9 in an away game against the Bow Island Rebels on Saturday, February 16, their last regular season game.  Next is playoffs.  During the evening tof the 16th the Chinooks got to attend a Lethbridge Hurricanes game together.  The Atom 2 Chinooks finished the regular season in third place in the Spud League standings, behind Taber in second place and Irvine in first place.

Picture Butte defeats Bantam Chinooks
In their last regular season game the Bantam Chinooks lost an away game to Picture Butte by a score of 6-1.  The Bantam Chinooks finished the regular season in third place in the Spud League standings, behind Lethbridge 4 in second place and Coaldale in first place.
