Goodbye, venerable penny. Let the roundups begin.
From Wikipedia:
Production of the penny ceased in May 2012, and the Royal Canadian Mint ceased distributing them as of February 4, 2013 (today). However, like all discontinued currency in the Canadian monetary system, the coin remains legal tender. Once distribution of the coin ceased, though, vendors no longer were expected to return pennies as change for cash purchases, and were encouraged to round purchases to the nearest nickel. Non-cash transactions are still denominated to the penny.Related link: Wikipedia on the Canadian penny

Wouldn't it be nice if they developed a 2 cent piece so that we can give our two cents worth since there will no longer be the venerable penny for your thoughts around anymore. Or will it be a nickel for what you are thinking. Nope won't work doesn't have the same ring to it. Have a great day.
