At their January 8, 2013 meeting Council for the MD of Pincher Creek No. 9 directed Administration to install a sign recognizing the funding and contractors involved with the construction of the new administration building, which is currently under construction at the MD property on the corner of Waterton Avenue and Macleod Street.

The design of the building has changed somewhat from what was shown at an open house last year.  Gone is the second floor.  According to MD Director of Operations Leo Reedyk, the change in design will result in a reduction of storage capacity but will increase available space on the remaining single floor, including an extra bay.  Two stairwells and an elevator have been removed from the plan.

Reedyk said the changes would result in an approximate 1.2 million dollar reduction in the cost of the project.

According to MD CAO Wendy Kay the Town of Pincher Creek has indicated that improvements are required for Herron Street, which runs north-south behind the site of the new building.  Estimated costs for those improvements are $300,000.  MD Council decided at their January 22, 2013 meeting to use monies from an available Federal Gas Tax Fund grant to pay for the work.
