Funding for Curling Club and Zamboni purchase approved by Town and MD

Council for the Town of Pincher Creek resolved at their December 10, 2012 regular meeting "That Council for the Town of Pincher Creek direct administration to send a letter to the Municipal District of Pincher Creek No.  9 requesting $75,000 for the purchase of a Zamboni and $15,000 for the repairs and maintenance at the Pincher Creek Curling Club."

From an article by Toni Lucas in the December 14 issue of the Pincher Creek Voice:
Pincher Creek Curling Club asked for financial help to help pay for repairs and maintenance on their building with an estimated cost of $30,000.  The building repairs portion is part of the 2013 operating budget for the Town.  The council moved to direct administration to send a letter to the MD of Pincher Creek to suggest that they both share in this expenditure equally, as well as for the $150,000 expense for a new Zamboni for the arena.

During their January 22, 2013 meeting Council for the MD of Pincher Creek No. 9 approved their portion of the funding as requested, with the funds to come out of the Recreation Reserve account.  "We might need to tell the town that they've spent the budget for this year," said Reeve Bjorn Berg.  "They are spending the Rec fund in ways it wasn't meant to be spent."
