Ag Society thanks their volunteers

The Pincher Creek & District Agricultural Society would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our volunteers through the years and years to come.  We would not be able to run without the help and support of our volunteers working at the different venues that make up the Ag Society.

Ag Society Volunteer of the Year  Diane Bowen-Oczkowski
We would like to congratulate our Volunteer of the Year – Diane Bowen-Oczkowski.  Diane was recognized during the Pro Rodeo this past August.  Diane lives on a third generation family farm.  Volunteering has been and still is a huge part of her life.  Diane has brought up her children in the same way and anyone she meets.  Diane started with the local Army Cadets on to school councils and a 4-H leader.  Diane understands the importance of volunteering, and is proud of her community and knows each event in Pincher Creek needs people (volunteers) to help make it happen.  Diane feels that getting our youth involved in Pincher Creek is important as they are our future volunteers and we need to get them invested in their community.  Diane started on the Ag Board and is also on the Pro Rodeo committee.  It has been about 12 years and she is still going strong.  Diane orchestrated the 4-H to take over the concession and it has been a great partnership for both parties.   Thank you Diane for your dedication, long hours and hard work for the Ag Society, we as a group appreciate you.

The Gathering Committee just celebrated its 25th year and is still going strong.   The Pro Rodeo is on its 19th year and getting bigger and better with each year.

Our two major events are The Gathering in June and the Pro Rodeo and Cabaret in August.  The Pincher Creek and  District Ag Society hosts the Cowboy Show, High School Rodeo, beginner to intermediate roping and numerous other clinics.  The Ag Society is always open to host any type of agricultural venue.  Please phone LeRoy our grounds manager at 403-627-4702 and he would be happy to explain the process.

Anyone interested in the Ag Society is welcome to come to the Annual General Meeting on December 10, 2012 at 7:00 pm in the lobby of the horseshoe pavilion.  We always need community minded people.

Another great part of the Ag Society is the well maintained grounds, buildings and surrounding area which include a large covered arena, large parking lot, and the creek, concession booths which is a perfect setting for 4-H, weddings, anniversaries, re-unions and car shows.

We would like to thank our many volunteers and congratulate our Ag Volunteer of the Year.

We are hosting our beginner to intermediate roping again this year.  Our first date is Dec 7, 2012 with our team roping instructor Randy Stav at 6:30 pm and our ranch roping instructor, Jesse Newman at 7:30 pm.  All ages and levels welcome.  It’s a great family event.
