The Heritage Acres Farm Museum held its 25th Annual Show on the weekend of August 3-5, celebrating the “Year of the Pioneer Farm Family”. The crowd, drawn by the warm sunny weather, had an opportunity to examine a field full of antique farm equipment, field demonstrations, exhibits, and activities used to promote the rich history of the early 1900s. The horse drawn wagon available proved to be a big hit during the weekend, taking passengers to and from events and on tours of the site. This year staff from the Reynolds Wetaskiwin Museum joined the show, bringing with them a recently restored 1912 Gas Traction Co. Model B25 tractor, which was operational and farmed in the area during the 1900s.

The merchant mall was a popular attraction. Live music was provided by Play'n Country throughout the event in a small auditorium at the back of the merchant mall. Folks also flocked to events such as the Parade of Power and the Tractor Pull, which provided an excellent opportunity to see these old machines in action. Weather was definitely a factor in the Tractor Pull, as the heat picked up on the Saturday and Sunday, resulting in shorter pulls.

A barn dance was held on Saturday night at the Red Barn loft, while a non-denominational community church service took place on Sunday morning. Local volunteers put in a lot of effort in creating and maintaining both the grounds and equipment of Heritage Acres.

Fall Fair

Heritage Acres will be holding a Fall Fair on Saturday, September 15.  This is a new event for the museum, combining a harvest threshing bee with a bench show and arts and crafts demonstrations.

  1. It is wonderful to see our heritage preserved in such an elegant manner. We need more preservation of our history and culture. Kudos go out to all that get involved, in whatever way they are able to, in order to preserve and promote our heritage and history, all the while embracing and enjoying the journey to the future!
