Fatal motor vehicle accident east of Fort Macleod

On August 1, 2012 at 3:05 pm a single motor vehicle collision occurred 3 kilometres east of Fort Macleod in the westbound lanes of Highway 3.

A Dodge van entered the north ditch and struck dirt berm and rolled onto its roof. The male and female were transported to hospital via ambulance.

At this time the female passenger has succumbed to her injuries at the Lethbridge Chinook Hospital and passed away. The male is seeking medical attention also.

The names of the vehicle occupants are not being released pending next of kin notification.  Alcohol is not a factor in the collision. Both occupants had utilized the vehicle restraint system.
