Jim Palmer biography

Jim Palmer’s art studies were at the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey; at McGill University in Montreal; and at the Centre d’Etudiants et d’Artistes in Paris, France. He has a teaching degree from Concordia University in Montreal. He has been showing and selling in commercial galleries and other outlets since the ‘70’s, with works in private, corporate and public collections in Canada and the U.S. He was president of a prominent cooperative gallery in Montreal in the ‘90’s (The Arts Club, founded 1912), working with over 100 artists in workshops and shows. He is active in Southern Alberta art: teaching landscape painting and coordinating figure drawing here at the Lebel; and participating in shows here, and in Lethbridge and Calgary. He feels that teaching, like creating art, is a constant learning experience, offering wonderful satisfactions - hopefully to the students as well as to himself.
