The hard work of the Hale family has paid off, as they became the first to receive Black Belts in Shorei-Kan Go-Ju Ryu Karate in Pincher Creek on June 18th. Louise, Chas and Reed Hale joined Shorei-Kan in 2008. The new Sensei’s will be teaching alongside of their Sensei, Peter Dressler in the Pincher Creek dojo. Liam Hale, eager to be named the youngest Black Belt in the Shorei-Kan system, will be testing at the end of the year if all goes well.
The test was done by Vic Hargitt of Sorrento, BC (Head of Shorei-Kan in Canada) and Jack Matches of Kamloops, BC.
Shorei-Kan is a not-for-profit organization with 5 locations in Canada. Classes run year-round at Canyon School and the MD Administration Building every Monday and Wednesday evening. Peter Dressler has been training since 1991 and is the chief instructor of the Pincher Creek dojo.
