MD grants contract for North Burmis Road upgrades

On June 25, 2012 the MD of Pincher Creek No. 9 accepted a $2,670,843.70 tender from Whissell Contracting Ltd. of Calgary for upgrades to the North Burmis Road. Whissell was the lowest bidder on the contract.
Contingency funds, site occupancy bonus, right of way purchase, and engineering are estimated to bring the total cost for the project to $3,446,241.07. The funding formula for the project includes $2,234,00 from the Capital Road Reserve and $1,2112,241.07 from Government of Alberta Municipal Sustainablity Initiative (MSI) Capital Grant Funds.
The project includes grading, granular base course, double seal coat and "other work" on the south end of North Burmis Road from Highway 3 to Township Road 8-0.
The MD maintains approximately 1,000 kilometers of roads.
