Fraud under investigation in Crowsnest Pass

On Saturday, April 28th, 2012, Crowsnest Pass RCMP received a complaint of a significant fraud which occurred through a local financial institution.

The financial institution received several emails, purportedly from one of its clients, requesting large sums of money be transferred to accounts outside of Canada.

The investigation to date shows that these emails originate from Nigeria, and that the suspects appear to have hacked into the client's email account.

The Crowsnest RCMP, with the assistance of RCMP Commercial Crime, and the RCMP Tech Crime Unit, continues to investigate this fraud.
