Out and about March 30 - April 1

Chris Davis, Pincher Creek Voice

The Ranchland Mall was the site of another mighty fine Craft Sale last weekend.  Balmy spring weather has turned thoughts to the warmer months ahead.  Mike Barkwith was manning the Heritage Acres booth, and his lovely wife Janet  (our "Roping Reporter") was displaying her own hand-made jewellery, which she sells under the "Smiling Fox Studio" brand.  Vendors were in abundance, with baking, local meats, crocheting, needlework, local honey, and a wide variety of other items on display.

Click here for a story about the upcoming events planned for Heritage Acres.

Lanea Darragh of Eye Candy Western Jewellery also had wares for sale, described as "funky chunky wear for the sassy and classy."  One of her specialities is ornate belt-buckles.  More about that at a later date.

We're busy burning DVD's for the families of the Pincher Creek Figure Skating Club, so if you're one of those waiting for yours, it should be available post-haste.

Cowboy Church at the Ag Building was a wonderful success

The Heartland Church held their first "Cowboy Church" at Pincher Creek's Ag Building on Sunday evening.  The event was well attended, and began with a delicious potluck supper before moving on to the services, which featured old-time gospel music well-played by a band fronted by Clayton and Babetta Moncrieff of Cayley and the preaching of Pastor Donny Coulter.  The singalong songs and gentle atmosphere made for a real spirit of community among those in attendance.

"We want this to be a place where people who don't normally go to church can find an experience and find out who God is," said Pastor Coulter during his introductory remarks.

Keep an eye on the Voice for an announcement regarding when the next Cowboy Church will be held.

Did you know the Pincher Creek Co-op is 90 years old this year?  Keep an eye out for special events commemorating this special achievement.  Visit www.pinchercreekcoop.ca to keep abreast of Co-op events, sales, etc.

Happy Birthday Co-op!
"At a meeting of the Pincher Creek United Farmers of Alberta District Association on January 7, 1922, it was resolved that immediate steps would be taken to form a Cooperative Association for the purpose of marketing farm produce, other than wheat. The result was the organization of the Pincher Creek Co-operative Association Limited."
