Drug transaction leads to vehicular assault in Redcliff


On April 11, 2012 at approximately 1:45 PM Redcliff RCMP were dispatched to a report of a truck intentionally ramming another car and then leaving the scene within the Town of Redcliff.  The suspect vehicle was located a few minutes later on Highway 1 by Redcliff RCMP and Redcliff RCMP Traffic Services.  A vehicle stop was conducted on the suspect vehicle and a 16 year old male from Medicine Hat was arrested without incident.  A subsequent investigation revealed the youth met with two male occupants of the car to for a drug transaction.  At some point during the meeting, the youth produced a knife and threatened one of the occupants of the car.  He then got into his truck and rammed the car before fleeing the scene.  The youth has been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count of mischief over $5,000, and two criminal code driving offences.  One of the occupants of the car was arrested on an outstanding warrant and released.  The investigation is continuing.

Redcliff RCMP would like to remind the public of the dangers involved in the trafficking of illegal drugs and the risk to personal and public safety.
