Candidate profile: Pat Stier, WildRose Party

Pat Stier
WildRose Party

Pat Stier is the WildRose Party candidate for the Livingstone Macleod constituency.

He was raised on the family ranch near De Winton, and has lived in the Foothills area his whole life, farming with his parents in the 60's and 70's.

For 25 years he was employed primarily in the seismic data segment of the oil and gas industry in Calgary.  Stier also spent 15 years in Municipal Government with the MD of Foothills, including 4 years as a Municipal Councillor.

Stier's platform includes a desire to improve communication with the residents in the Livingstone-MacLeod constituency, particularly in dealing with matters of Property Rights, Agriculture, Health Care, Education, Seniors Issues and Spending.

From his website www.patstier.com:

It’s Time For A Change!! What I believe in:

  • It is time for a change. Corruption and arrogance are an almost inevitable result of 40 years of absolute Government. Changing leaders will not do much to root out the basic problems that have built up in the Tory party of unbridled power.
  • The Conservative Party has been moving steadily to the left since Ed Stelmach became Premier and with the accession of Alison Redford, that shift to the left will accelerate to the point that the Tories will become a Liberal Party in everything but name. This leaves Wildrose as the only real Conservative alternative in the province.
  • Wildrose believes in less rather than more government. We believe that the role of Government is to provide a stable and safe economic environment in which individuals have the freedom to make their own decisions and the responsibility of living with the results of those decisions.

Editor's note: I was hoping to interview Mr. Stier, as I did previously with NDP Candidate Matthew Halton and PC Candidate Evan Berger, but since that hasn't happened, and since we want to be sure to be as fair as possible in presenting the choices of candidates in the Livingstone-Macleod constituency, I'm publishing this profile instead. - Chris Davis, Editor, Pincher Creek Voice.
