Piikani Nation RCMP nabs impaired driver thanks to anonymous tip

Piikani Nation RCMP
news release
On March 14, 2012 Piikani Nation RCMP received an anonymous complaint of an impaired driver on the Piikani Nation reserve near the Crowsnest trail outpost.

The vehicle was stopped by members near the junction of Highway 2 and Highway 3.  The vehicle was found to be stolen.

The driver identified as John O’Connor from Victoria British Columbia was arrested.  He is facing charges of impaired driving, possession of stolen property and breach of probation.

O’Connor was wanted on outstanding warrants from Calgary and did not have a drivers license.  Members would like to thank the anonymous complainant for the report. O’Connor provided breath samples of nearly four times the legal limit.  He was traveling on a busy highway and was a danger to the public.  Assistance from the public is always appreciated and in this case the roads were made safer because a good Samaritan took the time to call police.
