The 2012 ASAA 1A Girls Basketball Provincial Tournament is underway at Matthew Halton School this weekend, hosted by the Lundbreck Sabres.  The Sabres were victorious in their first game of the tournament, defeating the Viking School Vixens (more on that later).  As a result, the Sabres will be competing again at 8:45 pm this evening, Friday, March 16.  The winner of that game will compete in the championship final tomorrow evening at 8:00 pm.  The loser of that game will compete for third place tomorrow at 6:00 pm.  Come out and cheer on the Livingstone Sr. Girls as they work towards Provincial Gold.

Pincher Creek Co-op hosted a "Charity Chili Cook-off" at the Ranchland Mall today.  Three participants vied for top chili, based on the votes of Co-op shoppers,  including the Lundbreck Citizen's Council, Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village, and Children's World.  Children's World gets the bragging rights for most popular chili.  Their booth was presided over by Ras Takac.  The local charities were all winners, each taking home a share of the $600 raised by the event.
