Pincher Creek's Huskies attended the Midget D Hockey Provincials held in Millet last weekend, March 15 to 18.  The tournament was held round-robin style.

For their first game in the tournament the Huskies played the host team, the Millet Storm.  "They had a really good game, they came out flying and showed what they can do," said Midget Dad Dan Crawford.  Huskies Captain #16 Brett Tarcon achieved a hat trick and an assist in the game, #15 Tristan Doell scored twice.  #18 Chase Tymchyma scored once and got two assists.

The Huskies second game against the Westlock Sabres didn't go so well. According to Crawford "It was one of those up-all-day kind of things.  We had played one of the first games of the day, then one of the last games.  Right in the middle was the opening ceremonies, and we had to go to that.  So we didn't have any time to really stop somewhere and relax.  After the opening ceremonies we had an hour to kill before they had to be at the rink again, so the kids were running hard all day."  The Huskies lost that game 3-2.

The Huskies next faced the Grimshaw Stars and defeated them 3-0.  Tarcon got two of those goals and #19 Ryan Sciarra got the other.

In the semi-finals The Huskies faced the Irma Aces.  The Aces got the jump on them in the first period, surging ahead 5-1.  The Huskies came on strong in the second period, which ended with the Aces still ahead by now by the narrowest of margins, 6-5."

"In the third period we came out flying again," explained Dan Crawford. "They got a couple of bounces.  We didn't get a couple of bounces and it ended up 9-5.  We basically won one period out of the three."  Tarcon got two goals in that game, one of them unassisted, and two assists.  #21 Michael Roy also scored twice, and got one assist. #17 Sheldon Fillipuzzi scored the other Huskies goal.

The Irma Aces went on to win the Gold in the next game, after defeating the Westlock Sabres 5-2.

Spud League Championship:

The Huskies have one more challenge ahead of them.

The second game will be played here at the Memorial Community Centre Arena on Saturday, March 24 at 7:30 pm.  This will be the Huskies' last home game of the season, so come out and cheer on this great team.
