The Saint Michael's Senior Girls Dragons basketball team hosted Lundbreck's Livingstone Sabres in the Dale Wentz Memorial gymnasium on the evening of Wednesday, February 8.
The Sabres were playing with a shallow bench of just 7 players, but these were seven players that came to the game with a hunger to win. The Dragons Girls have proven themselves to be a solid squad this season, but the Lundbreck team roiled through their defences time after time, stealing the ball at every opportunity, and made the most of almost every opportunity at the basket. The Dragons had many near misses, and with the Sabres being equally adept at defensive and offensive strategies the Dragons had difficulty maintaining possession of the ball.

Dragons' #13 Tamara had a good game, the dominant scorer for her team. #14 Taylor's dependable determination was once again evident, and #12 Kelli's signature long-shot continues to improve. In truth the whole team put in a solid effort, only to be repeatedly denied. Sabres' #11 Jennifer and #13 Emma were dominant forces on the court, demonstrating ruthlessly effective abilities to steal the ball and take it to the basket.

It was an exciting game to watch, despite the disparity in the score. Both teams played flat-out throughout, with many near-misses on the Dragons' side and some truly brilliant plays by the Sabres.
Final score: Sabres 63, Dragons 35
