Matthew Halton High School's Senior Hawks hosted Saint Michael's Dragons on Monday evening, February 6.

The rivalry between the two local teams was fairly obvious from the outset.  Both teams arrived wanting to win, and aggressively pursued it.  There was a also fair bit of showmanship displayed during the game.

The Hawks were a dominating force from the first whistle.  The over-the-top effort of Hawks' #11 Jesen Little Moustache propelled the team in the first quarter, which ended with the Hawks up 21-12.  The Dragons regrouped and came out somewhat stronger in the second, but once again Little Moustache proved to be a deciding factor, with the quarter going to the Hawks 14-10.  Little Moustache has a great long shot, and an ability to find the basket in almost any situation. Dragons' #15 Gabe Rainford put in a determined effort in the third quarter, helping his team to a 19-18 edge in that one.  However, it all fell apart for the Dragons in the final quarter, which the Hawks took by 20-10, thus winning the game by a score of 73-51.

Hawks' #11 Jesen Little Moustache was the top scorer in the game, with 27 points, followed by his teammate #4 Carlos Burgo with 19 points.  Over on the Dragons' side, the top scorers were #15 Gabe Rainford with 15 points, followed by #14 Westin Fairbrother with 12 points.  The absence of Dragons Joseph and Hilliard was unfortunate for the team.
