The two teams were quite evenly matched, despite playing somewhat different styles of basketball. The first two quarters played out almost the same, with the Dragons scoring 10 points in each and Piikani scoring 14 points in each, putting Piikani ahead 28-20 at the half.

Coach Barney Provost said his team has faced some real challenges this season. "The boys team has had a lot of turmoil this year. We had a coach start the year, and he couldn't coach anymore, so I had to step in. We actually had to pull our Grade 9's out of the league. It was getting too heated, so we decided it was the best thing for the boys to pull them out and just let them play in tournaments and exhibition games, and get ready for Zones. The boys have done well. In this last tournament (Bow Island) they took second."
Provost said there would be a post-season basketball tournament in Brocket. "We're going to host a couple of tournaments when this season is over. We're going to have some Native teams and local teams, hopefully 8 teams, girls and boys."
